Here we have a Unusual Late Victorian Silver Plate mounted lockable Wine Tantalus containing 2 finely cut crystal wine decanters with snug fitting stoppers complete with lock & key all in perfect working order & undamaged. To unlock the 2 wine decanters that appear to take 75 cl (1 bottle each) all that is needed is a twist of the key & a lift of the central loop handle which removes the 2 silver plated discs holding the 2 decanters & stoppers firmly in place enabling the wine decanters to be accessed . This item was made by the celebrated luxury retailers Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company of Regent Street London whose address is engraved on the underside . Additionally it states Patent had been applied for suggesting this variation of tantalus was of their design. This is an imposing & unusual object that should appeal to a wine lover somewhere. This item is in pristine undamaged condition throughout. The 2 identical decanters have a total height each of 9 inches from ground to top of stoppers.
